Santa Clarita residents and community groups are invited to share their ideas and suggestions for the 60-acre Rivendale open space area at an upcoming community workshop. The public meeting will be hosted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the multi-purpose room at Wiley Canyon Elementary School, located at 24240 W. La Glorita Circle.
“As we prepare to develop a master plan for Rivendale Park and other open space areas, we want to hear what residents would like to see so that we can draft a plan that is reflective of community desires,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “The Rivendale site is one of the City’s most viable gateway property holdings and has tremendous potential for meeting multiple recreational, cultural, arts and educational needs.”
In March 2012, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission supported the development of a master plan for Rivendale with an emphasis on cultural or historic usage and public theatre. With the help of the community workshop, the master planning process will allow the Commission and staff the ability to focus attention on the property, study its opportunities and constraints, and identify the community’s needs and desires for the site. The result of the process will be a master plan and summary report for the Rivendale site.
The City acquired the 60-acre Rivendale property in 1995 and the site is comprised of three parcels that were annexed into the city in 2003.

Rivendale Equestrian Center. That is what is was. I wish I could attend.cultural use is fine, but historically Rivendale begins with my family. Can anyone guess why my mother named the Equestrian Center Rivendale? I just hope they actually give the credit for the property where it truly belongs. Please remember that one of the original owners is still here.
