The Master’s College Women’s Volleyball team moved up three spots in the NAIA Division 1 rankings as Coach Bobby Blanken and his Mustangs are now ranked 13th in the top 25 poll.
Notably, TMC is joined in the rankings by three other Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) schools. Representing the GSAC are Concordia (2), Biola (4), and Westmont (8).
“I’m very excited about the fact that the team’s hard work and effort is being recognized,” third year head coach Bobby Blanken states. “We realize that it’s an early season ranking, and aren’t putting a ton of thought behind the new spot, but it is validating that we are being recognized.”
The Mustangs have had their best start in years as the squad currently holds a commanding 13-1 record. To date, TMC has claimed 667 kills, 616 assists, 78 aces, and 710 digs. The Mustangs are also averaging a hitting percentage of .302.
Further commenting on his teams new rank, Blanken states “We now have a target on our backs, and so any team that we play are going to be playing as if they have the opportunity knock off a top 25 team. All in all, I’m excited about it and am grateful that all the girls hard work is paying off.”
On Saturday, September 15, the Lady Mustangs will open up GSAC play against the No. 4 ranked Eagles of Biola. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 PM in Bross Gymnasium.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and Independents. The third regular-season poll will be announced on Sept. 18.
