The Master’s women’s volleyball team, now ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA Divison 1 national poll, defeated the No. 12 Westmont Warriors in five games Tuesday in Santa Barbara.
The Mustangs were led by Sam Dougherty’s 14 kills, with Brittney Jones adding 13 kills and Rachel Taylor 11. Setters Aubrey Bekendam and Alyssa Gergins each had 26 assists. Defensively Rebecca Peluffo led The Master’s with 24 digs.
Westmont took game one on their home court (27-25), with the Mustangs getting games two and three (25-23, 25-20). The Warriors controlled game four (25-16) which forced a fifth game that saw both teams go back and forth before The Master’s prevailed (16-14)
Jones added six blocks and two service aces to the match as well.
The Master’s (23-4, 8-3 GSAC) next play Friday night on the road against No. 16 Cal State-San Marcos. They will be home in Bross Gym Saturday night against Arizona Christian starting at 7 p.m.
