Snapshot for 11/12/2012 through 11/18/2012.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
[LASD] – There were a total of twenty eight Part-1 crimes reported in Zone 5-Valencia area. The criminal incidents included grand theft autos, residential, commercial and vehicle burglaries, numerous petty thefts and shoplifting from local businesses.
Grand theft of Honda vehicles are still on the rise. There were three reports of Honda Civics stolen from various areas of the mall parking lot and parking structure located on Town Center Drive. Please be cautious of your surroundings. Lock all windows/doors to your vehicle and if possible park in well-lit and highly visible areas.
The residential burglaries occurred on the 25000 block of Rana Drive and 24000 block of Rock Ridge Court. Both incidents occurred during the daytime on weekdays. Items stolen were jewelry, camera, cash, and fire arms. One victim believes items were stolen by an acquaintance due to no forced entry to the home. The other report indicated entry was made via a back “doggy door” with no suspect information. As always please remember to lock all windows/doors to your residence and secure valuables in a safe or lock box. Keep serial numbers to valuables handy in case of a theft so that Deputies have the information for the criminal report.
There were a few commercial burglaries that occurred in various areas of Valencia. The items stolen ranged from computers, tools and musical equipment. Video surveillance was in place for a few of the incidents. Santa Clarita Detectives are currently working these cases.
Four vehicle burglaries occurred at the following locations: 28000 block of Smyth Drive, 24700 block of Avenue Tibbitts, 24000 block of Magic Mountain Parkway and 24500 block of Nicklaus Drive. Most of the thefts occurred during the day/afternoon time. Entries made into the vehicles were via smashed windows and punched door locks. Items stolen were GPS, laptop, tools and cd’s all which were visible from outside the vehicles. I urge everyone to please secure all personal belongings (purses, book bags, lap tops, etc.) and do not leave items unattended or visible in your vehicles. Remember to secure your vehicles by rolling up all windows and locking all doors.
Santa Clarita Deputies are diligently patrolling all areas of Valencia regarding the increase of theft. Please help us by reporting all suspicious activity and call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
There were twelve arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. The criminal charges included possession of controlled substances, driving under the influence of alcohol, petty theft, and shoplifting from local businesses.
