SpareTime

SpareTime is the first of the concerts planned for the LA SummerFest at Rivendale, this Friday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m.

SpareTime, a jazz group based in Santa Clarita, with music that’s a blend of smooth jazz in a combination of styles – fusion, pop, straight-ahead, Latin, rock, mostly instrumental, and light vocals.

The concert is free and family friendly. Gates open at 6:30 pm, and everyone is encouraged to come out, bring a blanket, the family and a picnic, and enjoy a wonderful evening under the stars. The L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale includes: the Santa Clarita Shakespeare’s production of “Henry IV” Part I, an eclectic evening from the SCV Concert Band, smooth cool jazz under the stars with SpareTime, and performances of the rock musical HAIR, which just concluded a successful run in San Francisco. The Shakespeare and Concerts are free. Tickets are required for Hair.

Free Shakespeare in the Park series has been at the Rivendale site for the last three years. The growing festival is rebranded as the LA SummerFest at Rivendale and is supported from donations from the community, with a number of corporate sponsors, including: the City of Santa Clarita, Union Bank, Galpin Motors, ATKAudiotek, PRG, and KHTS and SCVTV. The majority of support comes from individual contributions and pass-the-hat donations at each event.

Rivendale is the front portion of Towsley Canyon Park, named for the former equestrian ranch on the property. The Rivendale site is owned by the City of Santa Clarita, currently planning a park dedicated to cultural arts, open space, and cultural preservation and history.
