ITEM 1 – MASTER CASE NO. 14-111, CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 14-010

Case Planner: Ben Jarvis, Associate Planner

Applicant: Ravinder Pilson

Location: 24366 Walnut Street (APN: 2831-010-028)

Request: The applicant is requesting a Conditional Use Permit to operate an instructional school (yoga studio) in the Urban General 2 zone in the Old Town Newhall Specific Plan area.

Recommendation: Staff recommends the Planning Commission adopt Resolution P14-14, approving Master Case No. 14-111, Conditional Use Permit 14-010 to allow for a Studio: Art, Dance, Martial Arts, Music, Tutoring, etc., use (instructional school/yoga studio) to be located at 24366 Walnut Street (APN 2831-010-028) subject to the attached Conditions of Approval (Exhibit A) in the City of Santa Clarita.

Request: The applicant is requesting the approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow for the operation of an animal shelter for up to 20 small dogs, on a residentially zoned property, in the community of Sand Canyon.

Recommendation: Staff recommends the Planning Commission adopt Resolution P14-16, approving Master Case No. 14-103, Conditional Use Permit 14-013 for the operation of an animal shelter located at 26505 Ravenhill Road, subject to the attached conditions of approval (Exhibit “A”).

MASTER CASE NO. 14-156, CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 14-012

Request:

The applicant is requesting to operate a cigar club that would allow for the on-site indoor use of tobacco products including cigars, cigarettes, and pipe tobacco in an existing 1,480 square-foot storefront. The request includes provisions for live entertainment, recorded music, and television screens in a lounge setting. The proposal includes the sale of prepared foods along with non-alcoholic beverages.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends the Planning Commission adopt Resolution P14-15, approving the Conditional Use Permit for a cigar club at 24250 Town Center Drive, Suite 130, subject to the attached conditions of approval (Exhibit “A”).

Complete packets are available for public inspection at the City Clerk’s front counter and the Permit Center front counter. Any writings or documents distributed to a majority of the members of the Planning Commission regarding any open session item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Permit Center located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 140, during normal business hours. These writings or documents will also be available for review at the meeting.
