Castaic and Val Verde, Zone 2

The following crimes were reported in Zone 2, Castaic/Val Verde.
An assault was reported from the intersection of Cromwell Avenue and Del Valle Road. A passerby stopped to check on the welfare of a female in an argument with a male in the roadway. Due to the aggressive behavior of the suspect, the passerby physically restrained the suspect till the female could get in her car and leave. While leaving the location himself, the suspect struck the passerby with his vehicle and crashed into a parked car. The suspect then fled the scene on foot to his residence where he called the police to report an assault. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies.
A theft was reported from the 27000 block of Quincy Street. The victim reported a Kenwood stereo stolen from the center console of his 2004 Nissan Sentra. There was no signs of forced entry to the vehicle. The stereo was estimated at $600.
A theft was reported from the 29000 block of Cambridge Avenue. The victim reported a Dewalt drill and work jacket stolen from the front passenger seat of his 2010 Chevy work van. The vehicle passenger door lock was “punched” and the loss was estimated at $200.

While shopping during this holiday season, please remember to never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, close and lock your doors. Minimize your risk and avoid being the victim of a crime of opportunity.
