1943 - Actor William S. Hart announces intent to bequeath Newhall estate to the public [story]

The Wendy’s quick-serve restaurant on The Old Road is closed for renovation, and the other Wendy’s locations are up next, according to Chris Hutchinson, new owner of the Wendy’s restaurants in Santa Clarita.

Hutchinson recently purchased 36 Wendy’s locations, four of which are in Santa Clarita, and all of the locations are scheduled for renovations, he said.

“It will be a several-year process,” Hutchinson said, “and we will still offer the same great menu.”

The entire company is undergoing an image revamp, a process it calls the Image Activation Process.

The process includes a new logo, spruced-up restaurants and fewer company-operated restaurants, to reduce capital spending and boost margins, according to Hutchinson.

The renovation is taking place at 27544 The Old Road, Valencia, CA 91355.

The location has been open for at least 20 years, Hutchinson said.

Weather permitting, we hope the restaurant re-opens on Mar. 1, Hutchinson said.

In March, The Wendy’s Company announced the completion of its System Optimization initiative, launched in July 2013, with the sale of 104 restaurants in four U.S. markets — Phoenix, Los Angeles/Palm Springs, Hawaii and Albuquerque, according to a news release.

Wendy’s has sold 418 company-operated restaurants concentrated in 13 U.S. markets, primarily in the West, as part of this initiative, according to a news release. The company has received total proceeds of approximately $235 million, including $138 million in 2013.
