1965 - Signal newspaper owner Scott Newhall shows up for a duel (of words) with rival Canyon Country newspaper publisher Art Evans, who no-shows and folds his paper soon after [story]
headline

The L.A. County Coroner’s office has released the cause of death of a 19-day-old baby whom authorities suspect was murdered by her father.

Little Ellorah Warner, of Newhall, died of blunt force trauma, according to the results of a medical examiner’s investigation.

Warner was only 19 days old when her body was found in the cab of a truck.

The truck was parked in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue around 7 a.m. Jan. 24, and Ellorah was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Holly Francisco, the homicide detective leading the investigation.

012415_187Detectives said the baby’s father, Matthew Warner, led sheriff’s officials to where the body was found.

The results of the autopsy were pending a toxicology report, but the report didn’t indicate anything that would have caused the child’s death, according to Lt. Fred Corral of the Coroner’s Office.

The specifics of the trauma are not being released because it’s part of an ongoing homicide investigation, officials said.

Warner is being held without bail at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.

A criminal complaint against Matthew Brendan Warner, 30, of Newhall, charges him with the murder of Ellorah Warner, his 19-day-old baby girl, as well as assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child under 10, aggravated sexual assault.

The case is being prosecuted by Julie Kramer of the county’s Victim Impact Program, which handles cases of elder abuse, child abuse, hate crimes, sex crimes, stalking and family violence.

He’s due back at court in San Fernando for another pretrial hearing April 28.

  11. Wait, it says she died of blunt force trauma in the first paragraph, and then “The report didn’t indicate anything that would have caused the child’s death”. That’s clear as mud.

    • Jenni Prouty says:

It’s a poorly worded sentence, but the report they are referring to is the toxicology report. So there was nothing in the toxicology report that would have contributed to her death (which was caused by the blunt force trauma).

  12. Fatin Sako says:

He deserves the death penalty for sure. I can’t wrap my head around this story. I’ve been thinking about it so much since I heard what happened. I don’t usually curse but he’s a BASTARD!!! Kill the jerk!
