FULLERTON, Calif. – The Master’s College volleyball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday night by beating the Hope International Royals in four sets (25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15).
With the win, TMC’s record improves to 12-8 and 5-3 in GSAC play.
“We knew going into Hope territory that it was going to be a battle,” commented TMC head coach Allan Vince. “Our game plan was to stop their primary hitters and their outsides. Our ladies did just that as we blocked exceptionally well and played gritty defense. We were able to kill the ball at high efficiency in transition, giving us the edge over the Royals. We struggled with Hope’s strong serving in game three, but the ladies adapted and came out of the gate strong for the fourth set and lead the team to victory. We are really working well together at adapting to our opponents strategy, and this will help us to peak at the right time this season.”
Aubrey Bekendam (Orland, CA) notched 38 kills, Emily Clark (Lake Forest, CA) led TMC’s defense with 17 digs, and Britney Jones (Northridge, CA) posted 12 kills.
Taking a break from its conference slate, the Lady Mustangs now focus on Friday’s match against Concordia (Mich.). First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. on Bross Court.
