[LACoFD] – Each year on the Fourth of July, Los Angeles County Firefighters respond to fires that were ignited by the use of illegal fireworks. For those living in the Wildland Urban Interface and surrounding communities, this is no small threat. Estimates indicate that in California 1,900 wildland fires have already burned since Jan. 1 – unusually high numbers for this time of year.
The need to staff extra firefighters and equipment during the holiday weekend is a result of those who do not heed the warning and unintentionally start fires. When you start a fire you put lives and property at risk and there is always a threat to firefighter safety during any fire fight.
Your Los Angeles County firefighters ask you to attend approved fireworks shows.
Locations of approved shows in the Santa Clarita Valley on July 4: Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall; Richard Rioux Park in Stevenson Ranch; Six Flags Magic Mountain.
NOTE: All personal fireworks are illegal throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
