Our 2012 campaign for U.S. Congress was just the beginning. There is still much to be done.  My name may not be on the ballot this November but my message is in the hearts and minds of the voters and will only continue to grow. There is no stopping an idea whose time has come. I am proud to be a part of this movement that is sweeping the nation. In this primary season, we have witnessed, in nearly every state, grass-roots candidates overtaking establishment status-quo incumbents.

My message of Constitutional accountability and adequate representation obviously resonated with the voters. My campaign promised to rectify the Cemex mining issue once and for all as well as guarantee that our soldiers receive the protection they deserve. Our service men and women put their lives on the line to protect our country; we owe it to them to provide security forces that truly keep them secure.

I ran as a candidate who stood up and directly challenged the status quo of a “tenured” 20-year incumbent that is no longer representing the district’s constituents. It is apparent that the people of our district are equally fed up with the business-as-usual politicking of our day. I have talked with people from all backgrounds, political affiliations and socio-economic circles who embrace my convictions. They desire, as I do, to bring a voice to the People. No more back-door deals, no more special interest favors.

The time has come for genuine representation and accountability. My campaign took a big step forward in accomplishing these goals and the people of our district are ready for change. I am very pleased with the progress we made with so little resources and against a 34 year political machine. We managed in less than three months to capture 13 percent of the vote in a crowded field and 18 percent in Santa Clarita, the incumbent’s home turf! With half of the time and a mere fraction of the dollars per vote spent by my competitors, we were able to reach deep into the community and spark a passion. Folks once disheartened and discouraged about the state of our government have stepped up to be a part of something they can believe in. I am honored to have them stand by my side.

I want to thank each and every one of you who voted, prayed, made calls, walked precincts, donated funds, hosted events, waved signs, endorsed me, gave me advice or helped this campaign in any way. Your efforts have honored me and my family with your love and support. We have made so many new friends along the way and are blessed to have met you.
