Allyson Felix

Santa Clarita’s Allyson Felix is going to the Summer Olympics in London. But it has yet to be determined in what capacity.

Felix was in a dead heat for third place in the 100 meters at the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials over the weekend. A photo finish between her and Jeneba Tarmoh showed both runners crossed the line at the exact same time, 11.068 seconds.

Both runners will compete in the Olympics in the 4×100 relay. But only one will race in the 100 meters at the Olympics.

Carmelita Jeter, the world champion in the 100 meters, won the US Olympic Trials race in 10.92 seconds.

In auto racing, Bryan Herta Autosports saw its streak of top-10 finishes come to an end at Iowa Speedway.

Alex Tagliani, driving for the team owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta, was 16th in the Iowa Corn Indy 250. Tagliani posted top-10 finishes in his three previous races in the Izod IndyCar Series.

Ryan Hunter-Reay won the race at Iowa Speedway, his second IndyCar Series win in a row.

The next race is the Honda Indy Toronto on July 9.

Canyon High grad Greg Pursley posted his best finish in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race in Sonoma and was on the podium for the first time in his career.

Pursley finished third in the West Series race in Sonoma. He was fourth in the race at Sonoma last year, giving him two top-fives in a row at the road course in Northern California.

The reigning West Series champion also cut into the lead of teammate Dylan Kwasniewski. Pursley trails Kwasniewski by eight points in the West Series standings after eight races.

David Gilliland, a regular on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, won the West Series race in Sonoma.

The Dodgers are officially slumping after a 5-3 loss to the Angels. The Dodgers have lost five of their past six games and have won only one game on their current road trip.

The Dodgers start a three-game series against the Giants in San Francisco tonight. Los Angeles has a three-game lead over the Giants in the National League West standings.

Listen to the game tonight on AM-1220 KHTS. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
