Valencia, Zone 5

Zone 5-Valencia had twenty Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week which has been the highest number of reported incidents this year. The criminal incidents included residential/vehicle burglaries, theft from unlocked vehicles, and shoplifting from local businesses.

There were two vehicle burglaries that occurred on the 23700 block of Mill Valley Road between the hours of 3:00 pm and 8:30 am. A third vehicle burglary occurred on the 25400 Via Nautica between the hours of 7:00 pm and 10:30 am and a fourth one occurred on the 24300 block of Caladium Place between the hours of 8:00 pm and 7:30 am. All burglaries occurred during the week while the vehicles were parked at the victim’s residences. Victims reported that the rear passenger windows had been smashed by an unknown object. Items stolen were an Apple/IPOD mini, GPS, Dr. Dre Head phones and a personal checkbook from the center console and glove compartment areas of the vehicles.

Two thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred on the 27300 block of Landon Place and 23300 block of Lynham Place between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00am Wednesday/Thursday night. Both victims left their vehicles unlocked. Items stolen were a cell phone, phone charger and high end sunglasses left in the center console area of the vehicles.

Once again I urge everyone to please take careful steps to not become a victim. Be mindful of your surroundings and if possible park your vehicles in well-lit areas. Take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not place items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle.

A residential burglary occurred on the 25300 block of Fortuna Drive between the hours of 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. The suspect(s) entered the residence by smashing the kitchen window and exited through the front door as evidence of it being unlocked. Items stolen were numerous pieces of jewelry from the master bedroom.

Bicycle theft is on the rise. Most victims have reported their bikes were locked at bike racks and that the locks/chains were cut off. Please use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings when securing your bicycles. Keep the serial number of your bicycle on file in the event that it is stolen to aid in its recovery.

If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121. There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included grand theft, drunk in public, and shoplifting from local businesses.
