“Climate, Fire and the Future of Open Space” is a panel being held in conjunction with the exhibit at the Old Town Newhall Library called “Highway 2: The Journey and the Destination” and is happening on Saturday, January 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library.
Blending their talent as photographers with their knowledge of our local deserts, mountains and forests, Wendy Walker, Jeff Zimmerman and Corina Roberts will share an intimate understanding of how environments respond to fire, how humans shape the natural landscape, and how fire itself is responding to climate change and the declining health of local ecosystems.
Witness the rebirth of the Angeles National Forest from the Station Fire, explore the boundless beauty of our high desert biomes all the way into the Mojave, and remember to breathe as you view video of extreme fire behavior. This presentation is appropriate for all audiences and age levels, and seeks to enhance your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the wilderness.
This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information on this event, head to https://www.facebook.com/events/1710837835895568/.
