LANCASTER – Roberto Ramos launched a long home run to help lead the Lancaster JetHawks to a 7-3 victory over the Stockton Ports on Saturday night at The Hangar.
Ramos finished 2-for-4 with a walk. The home run, his seventh of the season, led off the bottom of the third and put the JetHawks ahead, 4-2.
Lancaster led from wire-to-wire. They scored three unearned runs in the second. With two out and nobody on, Robbie Perkins reached on a fielding error by Stockton third baseman Mikey White. The JetHawks followed with four consecutive hits. Wilson Soriano delivered a two-run single. Yonathan Daza also hit an RBI single.
Stockton immediately responded with a pair of runs in the top of the third. Back-to-back doubles by Santiago Chavez and Nate Mondou opened the frame. Sandber Pimentel later came through with an RBI single. Chavez drove home a run with his second double of the game in the fourth to make it 4-3, but that was as close as the Ports would come.
In the bottom of the fourth, Garrett Hampson tripled with two out and scored on another RBI single by Daza. Wes Rogers also drove in a run with a single later in the inning. Hampson and Daza each went 2-for-5. Hampson now leads the California League with seven triples, while Daza’s .364 batting average is also tops in the league.
Chris Rabago brought home an insurance run for the JetHawks with an RBI single in the seventh inning.
Jesus Tinoco (7-1) earned the win for Lancaster. The right-hander went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out two. Alexander Guillen followed with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, striking out three. J.D. Hammer tossed a perfect ninth inning to close out the game.
Here’s the box score.
