1962 - Articles of incorporation filed for Golden State Memorial Hospital on Lyons Avenue [story]
Golden State Hospital

Alerted by a concerned citizen Friday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies once again rescued dogs the owner left in a car with the windows rolled up and no water.

Here’s the post from the station’s Facebook page:

We had to do it. We BROKE A WINDOW today to remove two small passengers in a car’s backseat.

deputies break window to rescue dogs from locked carIt happened over at a parking lot on Via Princessa. A customer glanced at this car as she was going inside store and noticed dogs. She probably thought the owner just walked away from the car for a minute.

But, approx. 30 MINUTES LATER when she returned to her car, the dogs WERE STILL INSIDE the car and the windows were all the way rolled up! She called SCV Sheriff’s and our deputies arrived along with Animal Control. The deputies went to work breaking the window and removing the overheated dogs. There was not even water in the car.

Later when the owner came to car, she was upset because she thought Animal Control was keeping “her babies.”

Then the deputy pointed out, “Why would you leave your babies in a hot car?”

She learned a lesson the hard way. Animal Control did let her have her babies back. However, she was cited for animal cruelty and has a car with a broken window.

Our job, protect the lives of all and help those who are unable to help themselves.

Big thanks to the woman who reported this to the Sheriff’s department. Some people don’t want to get involved. If she had not, those dogs might not be alive.

  14. Im not sure how this can still be happening… oh wait… stupid people ? i forgot!

  15. David says:

I take my dogs everywhere I go and if I can’t take my dogs inside I always leave my car running with the a/c blasting in the car while I go inside. I do this by carrying an extra set of keys and I securely lock my car.

I would like to know everyone’s input on this method I chose to keep my dogs with me everywhere I go.

  16. Nicole says:

Total lack of common sense. Shame on her.
