Castaic Union School District and The Music Center announced Tuesday the upcoming Korean Classical Music & Dance Company performance at Northlake Hills Elementary on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

As part of the school’s continuing efforts to enrich its curriculum and its students’ educational experience, the school will present a special performance of Korean Classical Music & Dance Company. The performance is presented by The Music Center’s education department which provides many offerings including live performances, classroom workshops, scholarship and training programs, online arts curriculum, on-campus events, and professional development.

An intricate, stylized fan dance in the finest tradition of the Korean court and a thrilling drum dance featuring unison drumming on suspended drums are just two of the offerings that grace the rich and varied repertoire of this exquisitely costumed ensemble. Under the artistic direction of Don Kim, Korean Classical Music & Dance Company performs the ceremonial and social dances that are an integral part of Korean cul­ture. This splendidly costumed ensemble boasts a rich and varied repertoire of exciting dances that are pre­sented with the grace and elegance characteristic of this ancient traditional dance form. The performance also includes traditional music played on authentic Far Eastern instruments.
