Nominations for the 67th Emmy Awards were announced July 16 by the Television Academy in West Hollywood, and several CalArtians earned accolades from their peers.

Don Cheadle (Theater BFA 86) earned his fourth nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for his portrayal of Marty Kaan in Showtime’s “House of Lies.” The nomination is Cheadle’s eighth overall.

Robert Barnhart (Theater BFA 87) received three nominations for his lighting design, two in the same category, marking 32 nominations (and seven wins so far). For Outstanding Lighting Design | Lighting Direction For A Variety Special, Barnhart was nominated for “The Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show Starring Katy Perry” and for The Oscars.

Barnhart was also nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design | Lighting Direction For A Variety Series for the “Season 11 Finale” for the Fox series, “So You Think You Can Dance.”

He competes with fellow CalArtian Daniel Boland (Theater BFA 95), who was nominated for “The Voice: Episode 818A.”

In the Animation categories, “Over the Garden Wall,” created by Patrick McHale (Film/Video BFA 06), was nominated for Outstanding Animated Program.

In the Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program, three out of the six nominees were created by CalArtians:

* “Adventure Time,” created by Pen Ward (Film/Video BFA 05), was nominated for its “Jake The Brick” episode.

* “Regular Show,” created by JG Quintel (Film/Video BFA 05), earned a nomination for “White Elephant Gift Exchange.”

* “Wander Over Yonder,” by Craig McCracken (Film/Video 92), was nominated for “The Gift 2: The Giftening.”
