1852 - Acton gold mine owner & California Gov. Henry Tifft Gage born in New York [story]

SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Dante Acosta (R-Santa Clarita) released the following statement regarding President Trump’s announcement Tuesday to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program:

“Congress should act immediately to fix our broken immigration system. Along with border security and modernizing our processes, the first steps should include protecting Dreamers. America should not be in the business of deporting children brought here through no fault of their own. They deserve a chance within reasonable time frames to become citizens of the only country they know as home.”

Assemblyman Acosta represents the 38th Assembly District stretching from Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, which encompasses the communities of Santa Clarita, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth and Northridge.

Its is not broken. It doesn’t matter what you write into law if that law is not enforced. There should be no illegal people in this country. If they haven’t applied and been vetted by the government they should not be allowed entry or if they entered without permission, they should be deported. Why is this so difficult for anyone to understand. This is how it is in the rest of the world, why should America be any different?

  2. “Dreamers” is a bad name for them. They’re called that because their parents brought them here with dreams for a better life? Ok, but every other immigrant waiting to come legally has the same dream. These kids should be rewarded because their parents line jumped?

  3. Sally Mehr says:

Mr. Costa, these children were brought here by their parents who broke the law to get here, end of story…

  4. Steve Brown says:

“Dreamers” is just a nice way to say ILLEGAL. “THEY” cried and whined about being called ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS so the politically correct thought that “undocumented workers” was a nicer kinder thing to say. They are ILLEGAL whether they walked across the border or their mommy and daddy carried them here Let me say it again, I L L E G A L.

  5. Easy fix. Illegals must become legal citizens. If not then thats the problem. Why not become citizens?

    • Lyn O'Kane says:

Not an easy fix, plenty of other people trying to come here legally, why should they get preferred treatment, it’s their parents fault, end of story, need to go back with their parents wherever they came from and apply like everyone else, the legal way

    • Lyn O’Kane but they are already here, are educated here and have been raised here. Should we send them back so we can let someone who has never been here, possibly no education come here instead? There is a fallacy that anyone who supports dreamers want open borders. Not the case, we just want these children to be treated humanely. I can tell you that as someone who was born here to LEGAL immigrant parents, I appreciate the American Dream and work hard to better the lives of future generations. These people appreciate what most people take for granted and work hard to prove it. Have some compassion people!!!

  6. They need to become legal ! These people need to get it in their thick skulls that you need to be documented and legal to get here .

  7. I don’t see why they need to publicize that they aren’t going after “dreamers” – all that does is cause a rush for the border. That was just a move by arrogant Obama to score political points. Putting party and power ahead of country.

  8. Bart Joseph says:

I’d rather see enforcement of international students returning home after college to raise the standards in their own country.

  9. KJ Slo says:

I wonder how the Legal immigrants feel? They had to go through the correct process of emigrating the right way! I feel sorry for the children of illegals, but they also need to understand the situation their parents put them in. If their parents would go through the correct process then they should all be just fine. If not, then they are purposely trying to remain illegal!

  10. Fire the Border Patrol employees. Too much taxpayer money due for retirement for useless welfare recipients!

  11. Alot of these dreamers turned out to be criminals thousands of them. Thanks Obama

    • JoeP says:

Facts? Source? Oh never mind you must have read that somewhere and are spreading it. A lot is two words you ignoramus.

  12. Protect America first!
