Assemblyman Dante Acosta, R-Santa Clarita, has announced his committee appointments including his selection to serve as Vice Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources.
“I am honored to be selected for a leadership role in a policy committee that is important to the 38th Assembly District, and appreciate Speaker Rendon and Minority Leader Mayes for entrusting me with this responsibility,” Acosta said. “It is vital that all points of view are reflected in governing our state and I look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats in ensuring the responsible utilization of California’s precious natural resources.”
The Assembly Committee on Natural Resources primary jurisdiction includes air quality, climate change, energy efficiency, renewable energy, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), coastal protection, forestry, land conservation, oil spills, solid waste and recycling.
Assemblyman Dante Acosta will also be serving on the Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care, the Committee on Governmental Organization, the Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media, as well as the Joint Legislative Audit Committee.
“The 38th Assembly District is home to not only a well-trained entertainment workforce, but also one of a kind TV and film locations,” Acosta said. “So I am pleased to serve on committees that directly affect residents in my community.”
Assemblyman Dante Acosta represents the 38th Assembly District stretching from Vazquez Rocks in Agua Dulce to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, which encompasses the communities of Santa Clarita, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth and Northridge.

OK. Start by increasing the pumping of petroleum from all of those pumpjacks that are visible (and not visible due to creative locating) so that the owners can pay their fees and taxes to the State. Your Governor can use the money.
Next, tell Newhall Land and Framing that they are going to pay their way into the new, solar, sexy and incredibly expensive development that they sold to LA County. And by the way, who the heck can afford to move there if they can live in a condo in downtown LA for the same price?
Finally, learn about the actual rules of law that the State of California has on record regarding the taking and use of ground water when it comes to divvying up resources in time of drought. Just because the State Gov’t hasn’t stopped the water takeover (we’ll see) doesn’t mean it will go through.
And just because your first term occurs when we get a little bit of relief from the drought doesn’t mean that your hiney won’t be hanging in the wind next year, or the year after.
You’d better get on top of these issues and figure out the best, most scientific and palatable to the public choices when it comes to water for “everyone”. If you get caught drinking from the fountain of “the elite”, and the public knows it you may find out what the people really want.
