The Robert T. Brentnall Pawsibilities Foundation, a Santa Clarita-based nonprofit animal rescue organization, is asking the community to help a local family with a litter of German shepherd puppies by adopting one or donating funds to help care for them.
The foster-based rescue group saves animals that are in horrible conditions, then rehabilitates them and finds appropriate forever homes for them. The organization provides an adoption package including all vaccinations, spay and neuter, microchipping and many extra items. The group also provides community outreach and education.
Foundation board member Jordan Roberts recently encountered a local Santa Clarita Valley family who took in a stray female German shepherd who unexpectedly had a litter of seven puppies, but the family has six children and four other dogs and cannot afford to properly care for the litter.
“The foundation talked the owners into letting us adopt out all seven puppies, who are now 6 months old, and mom, who is 2 years old,” said Chloe La Prairie, a Brentnall Pawsibilities volunteer.
“The owners will be keeping the two males, who are their original dogs; however we will be helping get all of them vetted, chipped and neutered,” she said. “All 11 also need to be wormed.”
An initial social media call in mid-June for food and supplies generated enough donations to feed and care for the dogs for about a month.
To pay veterinarian costs for the 11 dogs, however, La Prairie estimates the organization still needs to raise about $2,000 in donations.
“We’ve raised about $500 so far through our donations link, but it’s not going to be enough,” she said. “We want to make sure every dog in the household gets the care it needs, even if we won’t be adopting them out. We will gladly accept any donations.”
Pending adoptions, the group needs pet parents to foster one or more puppies until forever homes are found, La Prairie said.
“We believe no animal should go without the best medical care, regardless of the situation,” La Prairie said.
“In addition to the everyday expenses, our medical bills have been overwhelming,” she said. “As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the kindness of others through donations to help operate. We’re always seeking donations of supplies — things like food, grooming supplies, crates, new or gently used dog accessories. We also accept recyclable cans and plastic bottles. With the generous donations from our community, family and friends, we will be able to carry on with our mission.”
“We appreciate you considering making a donation so we can help save these and more animals,” La Prairie said. “Our tax ID number is 47-5634745.”

Mini Luna!!! ❤️
I’d love to have one of those beautiful puppers.
I am interested in adopting one of the pups.
I also recycle and just put it in the recycle bin for Western Waste. I would much prefer to drop it off for your rescue. Do you only do plastic and aluminum or paper too?
Please email me with adoption information/application and costs. I would also like to know other ways to volunteer if this is a possibility.
Thanks you.
