Motorcycle enthusiasts from Santa Clarita Elks Riders Lodge 2379 will host a biker rally to benefit a local brain-injured child on Saturday, April 14 starting at 9 a.m.
Upon registering at the Elks Lodge, riders will get at map/address to the first of four stops. At the last stop, they will enjoy a barbecue lunch and connect with other riders out to support a good cause.
There will also be musical entertainment and raffles to help this cause and bring the biker community together.
At the end of this rally where we will announce the donation made to our sponsor child, Olivia Huss.
She may be small, but the 1-1/2-year-old girl is a fighter. She was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), which means she was born with only half a heart.
The diagnosis came just 36 hours after her birth when she suffered severe lack of oxygen to the brain, resulting in right brain damage.
At her tender age, she has already endured two open heart surgeries and four stomach surgeries and is scheduled for another heart surgery when she is 4.
Olivia was recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy and her brain damage has affected her sight and mobility. She uses a feeding tube for food, water and medications but is working on being able to eat by mouth.
She receives therapy several times a week, sees numerous specialists, and requires a tremendous amount of care which prevents her parents, Cory and Renée, from working.
As blessed as Olivia’s parents feel, the financial burden has been difficult. Worrying about a child’s health and how to pay the gas bill is something no family should have to endure. Olivia’s older sister, Alex, a senior in high school, has sacrificed many opportunities in her own life because of the financial strain. Despite these challenges, Olivia’s family feels grateful that every day is a chance to build memories together.
Entry fee for each Rider/Driver will be $25 and passengers will be $10 each. The entry fee will include a BBQ lunch when the rally reaches its final stop back at the Elks-Santa Clarita Lodge 2379.
All local proceeds will benefit Olivia Huss.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. Kickstands will be up at 10 a.m.
The nonprofit Elks’ Santa Clarita Lodge 2379 is located at 17766 Sierra Hwy, Santa Clarita 91351.
The Elks Bikers Rally that benefits brain-injured children was founded by Ray Cola in New Jersey, and has taken place every year since 2010. Cola’s idea was simple: Get a group of Elks Riders from each state to do a Run/Rally on the second Saturday in April and each state gives the proceeds they collect directly to a Brain Injured Children’s Charity/Family/Cause in their area.
