1873 - Vasquez gang raids Kingston in (now) Kings County; ties up townspeople, makes off with $2,500 in cash and jewels [story]
Kingston

Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased [here].

The Cowboy Festival will host ticketed performances of nationally known Western musicians and cowboy poets located at the Canyon Theatre Guild. This 280 seat theater is furnished with plush comfortable seats to make your viewing enjoyable. Tickets are general admission on a first come first serve basis.

One such group who will be performing is Honey County.

Rooted in three-part vocal harmonies, southern twang, and pop hooks, Honey County is a female country trio; Dani Rose, Devon Jane and Katie Stump.

A Virginia native, Rose moved to Los Angeles during the early 2010s. There, she found herself gravitating toward the sounds, stories, and swagger of country music, a genre that had been so prevalent back home. When an opportunity arose to open for LeAnn Rimes, Rose accepted the gig, performing in front of thousands of new fans and, in the process, laying the brickwork for the formation of her own country band.

You won’t find Honey County on any map. Launched in 2014, the group takes its name from a fictional place, a move that allows Rose and her two bandmates — Devon Jane and Katie Stump — to create their own landscape of story-driven country; modern, melodic pop; and punchy, guitar-fueled rock (an influence that’s strengthened by Jane, the trio’s lead guitarist, whose fretwork has landed her gigs with everyone from Keith Urban to Ceelo Green). The band wasted little time developing its audience in California and beyond, earning a spot on the HBO series True Blood with Honey County’s very first single, “Blood From a Stone,” and appearing as semi-finalists on VH1’s Make a Band Famous competition. One of the few independent bands to play Stagecoach Festival this year, Rolling Stone named Honey County one of the “10 New Artists You Need To Know” for 2017 and one of the “26 Best Things We Saw at CMA Fest.” Meanwhile, shows with artists like Chase Rice, Jake Owen, Lee Brice, Dylan Scott and Easton Corbin kept Honey County busy, adding history and heft to the band’s sound.

Genuine fans of the country music tradition, the members of Honey County have also paid tribute to their influences, creating covers of songs like Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” (whose video earned more than 129,000 views on YouTube) and Garth Brooks’ “People Loving People” (whose recording notched over half a million spins on Spotify). They’ve created even more of a stir with their own music. Produced by John Spiker and Maks Gabriel, Honey County’s first summer single, “High On The Radio” was one of the first songs to receive airplay on opening day June 9, 2017 for SoCal Country radio station Radio Disney Country, KRDC. Tapped as a trending music video on CMT.com, the video for High on the Radio premiered on E! News, and with over 57,000 views on YouTube, is a showcase for Rose’s voice, Jane’s guitar, Stump’s harmonies, and the blend of three singers who were meant to perform together.

Honey County’s latest single released June 2017, “Love Someone,” also received airplay on E! News and has already been added to Apple Music’s ‘Cool Country’ Playlist with a feature in iTunes Country Music Hot Tracks. The single has over 31,000 spins on Spotify, and is currently on rotation on Radio Disney Country, KRDC Radio Disney Country 99.1FM/1110AM.

Honey County will be performing at the Canyon Theatre Guild, Saturday, April 21, at 8:00 p.m.

Canyon Theatre Guild is located at 24242 Main St., Newhall, 91321.
