Santa Clarita residents can help save lives by donating blood at the 2015 KHTS Home and Garden Show blood drive, set for Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Valencia Hyatt.
One pint of blood donated can save up to three lives and blood banks are in need of replenishment, according to Kaiser Permanente officials, who are hosting the event.
“Blood needs to be replenished,” said Kaiser Permanente Blood Donor Center Recruiter Socque Bellosillo in an earlier interview. “We spend millions of dollars each year buying the blood from the Red Cross. If people donate, we’d save a lot of money.”
Participants must be seventeen years old and above and have a photo I.D., and all donors are set to receive a T-shirt for their donation.
Individuals who have received a tattoo within the last year or suffered a heart attack, stroke or certain health issues are unable to donate, officials added.
Walk-ins are welcome to participate in the drive, and residents can also reserve a time slot in advance by calling KHTS AM-1220 at 661-298-1220 or the Blood Donor Center at 818-719-4329.
While the blood drive will only take place on Saturday, April 25, the 2015 KHTS Home and Garden Show is a free two-day event featuring hundreds of vendors, the KHTS Emergency Expo, the debut of Santa Clarita’s first Home Based Business Symposium and the addition of a variety of new family-friendly attractions.
“Our 6th annual KHTS Home and Garden Show and Emergency Expo is the perfect setting to discover the latest home improvement and decorating trends from top Santa Clarita professionals,” said KHTS AM-1220 co-owner Carl Goldman. “This year’s show is bigger than ever.”
KHTS AM-1220 has been producing free Santa Clarita home and garden shows for six years, and expos are owned and produced by KHTS.
This year’s KHTS Home and Garden Show is set for Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Valencia Hyatt.
