Eric Ting Yee, 21, a 2008 graduate of Valencia High School and 2012 graduate of Yale University, was found in possession of several firearms and arrested Monday night on suspicion of making terrorist threats and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

On Monday, Santa Clarita Valley Station received information from Bristol Connecticut Police that an unknown person posted on an ESPN blog that they were watching kids and did not mind murdering them. The blogger mentioned that it would be like the Aurora, Colorado shooting.

The blogger, Yee, was linked to a residence (pictured) in the 23000 block of Edenton Place, Valencia, which overlooks Santa Clarita Elementary School and Arroyo Seco Junior High.

School Resource Deputies were alerted of the circumstances and members of the Santa Clarita Valley J-Team conducted a surveillance of the location while detectives were able to gather information to obtain a search warrant of the residence.

A search warrant was served at the location by Santa Clarita Valley Detectives. The search revealed several firearms inside the location.

Yee was taken into custody without incident and booked at Santa Clarita Valley station. Detectives are in contact with Bristol Police and Yale University Police to ascertain if there are any outstanding suspects.

According to Sgt. Darren Harris of the SCV Sheriff’s Crime Prevention Unit, detectives are now convinced that Yee acted alone and that there are no other suspects being sought.

The Hart School District issued a statement regarding the incident:

“We are grateful for the professional and swift action by the SCV Sheriff’s Department under the leadership of Capt. Paul Becker for ensuring the safety of our community. We appreciate the cooperation and partnership with the Sheriff’s Department and agencies across the nation to respond to this threat immediately. The safety of our students and staff is our #1 priority.

Arroyo Seco Junior High School has informed their parents through phone and email this morning that it is business as usual on campus and that students have a regular schedule that includes outdoor lunch and activities. Arroyo Seco is not on lockdown.”

Santa Clarita Elementary School Principal Diane Saunders called KHTS’ on-air studio this morning to add her reassurance that all was well.

“I just wanted to let parents know that school is open today, as always. Our children’s safety is the most important thing and we’re working closely with the police department to ensure their safety. ”

Saunders added that school officials are on alert, and that the staff was following all instructions from the Sheriff’s Department.

Commenting on the vigilance of the staff at ESPN and Bristol, Connecticut law enforcement, she was appreciative.

Santa Clarita Sheriff Station Detectives are now releasing the name of the suspect arrested for allegedly posting on an internet blog site that he was watching kids and did not mind murdering them. Eric Yee, a 21 year old male from Santa Clarita, Ca. was arrested yesterday (Monday, September 17, 2012) at approximately 5:00pm on the charge of making criminal threats. He is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $ 1,000,000 bail.

The suspect is alleged to have posted threats against children on an ESPN internet site. “The Internet service providers at one of the ESPN sites were very good and acted diligently in contacting police,” Sgt. Darren Harris said.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station personnel are continuing their investigation into this incident. There is no indication at this point that there were any other suspects involved. Deputies are increasing patrols and visibility around all our local schools and School Resource Deputies are working closely with school administrators to address concerns. All classes and school schedules are in session. Investigators are not aware of any additional threats or concerns regarding any of our schools.

This case is expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County Districts Attorney’s Office tomorrow morning.
