MZI HealthCare LLC, a leading provider of health plan administration software, announced Monday that Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield has selected its flagship product, EZ-CAP, along with advanced modules EZ-NET and EZ-EDI, to automate its healthcare administration.

EZ-CAP is a complete solution that offers a comprehensive, integrated benefit administration system to streamline business processes, helping to deliver effective and timely care. EZ-NET is a real-time provider portal that facilitates the timely and cost-effective sharing of clinical and administrative information, while EZ-EDI simplifies the complexities of formatting HIPAA EDI transactions. Both modules work seamlessly with EZ-CAP.

“Our current system has been in place for a long time and no longer provides the functionality we need,” said Robert Bainbridge, Interim CFO, Kern Medical Center. “We looked at several systems and selected EZ-CAP primarily because it is very robust, offering the industry-leading features and functions we needed. Plus, as we discovered in the demo, it lives up to its name–EZ–easy-to-learn, easy-to-use, easy-to-navigate, and easy-to-extract data and run reports.”

With Kern Medical Center’s old system, information input by different departments could not be viewed by the various users. This was an especially difficult problem for the hospital when keeping track of patients who were sent outside the facility for care and treatment. For example, Kern hospital transfers patients with cardiac problems to other local hospitals. This requires a great deal of paperwork and numerous authorizations, all of which must be attached to the patient’s file.

“Under the labor intensive and paper heavy old system, it was a difficult and time-consuming process to support the necessary administrative and clinical processes required to transfer the patient,” said Bernave Garcia, Accountant III, for Kern Medical Center. “But with the integrated EZ-CAP system that is no longer an issue. Now, everything can be electronically attached to the patient’s file and all of it is easily accessible.”

The intuitive, easy-to-use and install EZ-CAP application is a powerful .NET platform that provides a browser-based environment to help organizations manage the complexities of health benefit administration. The technologically advanced browser-based EZ-CAP helps streamline workflows, while boosting productivity and enhancing profitability.

“EZ-CAP is a powerful system that delivers greater value than any other solution on the market,” said NC Murthy, CEO of MZIHC. “It is easy-to-use, and easy-to-adapt and configure. It has enabled numerous users to efficiently and cost-effectively automate their healthcare administration to suit their requirements and stay in control of their data.”
