I have had the opportunity to serve as chair of the Measure M Citizens’ Oversight Committee at College of the Canyons, and I have been continually impressed by the manner in which the college has carefully managed and spent the bond funds as promised to voters in 2006.
Each year for the past nine years, outside auditors have conducted two reviews of Measure M spending. And every year, the auditors have confirmed without exception that the funds are spent only on projects specifically authorized in the bond, and there are no irregularities in any of the millions of dollars of expenditures made for each building project.
The exemplary audit results validate the college’s commitment to managing carefully the resources provided through Measure M and its diligence in completing projects on time and on budget for the benefit of the community.
As I look at what is proposed for Measure E, I am excited about the changes and improvements that will be made at the college’s two campuses. Moreover, I am confident that what is planned will be delivered, as has been the case with Measure M.
A separate oversight committee will be appointed to monitor Measure E, and it will be subject to the same stringent audit requirements, providing assurance to the community that what has been proposed will be built.
Our community college has demonstrated that it built what was promised to voters and delivered projects on time and on budget. It is worthy of additional investment, and that’s why I encourage you to join me in voting “yes” on Measure E.
Nick Lentini is a COC alumnus and chair of the Measure M Citizens’ Oversight Committee.

Just can’t do it any more. Everyone has a hand out and we have taxed, bonded and measured everyone to death here – oh don’t forget the illegal fire fees too. We have signed our names to 30 years of debt over and over again. It has to stop. Our children and grandchildren are stuck paying for things we signed them up for. Enough already. When I want to donate to a charity I will. Stop picking my pocket!
The COC Foudation-a non profit 5013C charity is a major donor to the Yes E campaign. This may be legal, but is it ethical Mr Lentini?
Where in Measure M was the scale and scope fpr the Iniversity Center disclosed ? Are the words culinary institute in Measure M. Isn’t the cafeteria in the University Center good enough for Dr Van Hook, the highly compensated administrators, and the highly compliant Board of Trustees members? While we are asking some questions, how does the oversight distinguish between an administrator and a staff member.
Mr Lentini what is the current payment rate on Measure M bonds? Does it exceed the estimate put to the voter when approved in 2006?
NoCOCTax.com for real information on Measure E. Get out and vote , bring your friends and neighbors. Plenty of Bernie supports at COC who are doing so. Don’t let B E RNI E be the reason E passes.
