[KHTS] – The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley will take guests back to the days of caesars and gladiators for their 43rd annual Benefit Auction on Saturday, June 7 from 5 p.m. to midnight.
The “When in Rome” auction will be held in the Valencia Industrial Center, but the specific location is still to be determined.
There will be more than 40 live auction items and hundreds of bid board items for guests to choose from, in addition to a gourmet dinner, full bar, dancing and entertainment by a Blues Brothers tribute band.
Though Development Director Rhonda Chobanian couldn’t be specific about the auction items lined up for this year, she did say that guests will be able to bid on exotic trips, diamond jewelry, VIP Magic Mountain Packages and movie set experiences.
The annual auction helps to raise about $200,000, or one-third of the funds needed to run the programs at the Boys and Girls Club each year.
The club serves more than 2,700 children between 7 and 17 years old annually, offering Monday-Friday programs year round.
Their mission “is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens,” according to a press release.
This year’s auction will also be Jim Ventress’ last with the Club. The Chief Professional Officer announced his retirement in January, after 27 years of service.
“We have some special things planned, because it’s Jim’s last one,” she said. “I expect his entry into the event will be something people won’t forget.”The annual auction is one of his favorite events, said Rhonda Chobanian, development director for the club.
Tickets to the auction are $25 for two people and $85 for reserved seats with dinner included.
Various full table and sponsorship packages are also available.
Raffle tickets start at $100 each and the winner of the raffle will select one auction item that they wish to win. The list of available auction items will be posted online on May 27.
