Doug Bryce, one of four sitting members of the Saugus Union School District governing board, has announced he will be resigning his position and moving to the San Diego area, where he has accepted a new job.
In his new position, Bryce, an aerospace engineer, will be working from home in Santa Clarita until he is able to sell his house and relocate to San Diego, at which point he will submit his official resignation from his board position.

A statement from the school district said Bryce and his wife, Robin, have been long-term residents of the Santa Clarita Valley and their own children have attended the schools in the Saugus Union School District. He has served on the Saugus School Board for 12 years and is recognized as a strong advocate for children and has the reputation of always keeping what is best for children at the center of his actions as a Board of Education member. Douglas Bryce will be missed by District employees, his fellow School Board Members, and the Saugus Community.
In accordance with the Education Code, the school board will determine the process for filling Bryce’s position once he files his official resignation.
Bryce’s departure could leave the 5-member board with just three sitting members. The board seat of trustee Stephen Winkler was declared vacant last year after Bryce revealed the results of an investigation into Winkler’s residency. Winkler has said he intends to fight to retain his seat and the matter has not been fully resolved.
