Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Snapshot 12/03/2012-12/09/2012
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit

There were nine Part-1 crimes in Castaic/Val Verde this past week. Castaic RV had four additional thefts reported from RV’s parked at their location. There were five reported petty thefts including two incidents where diesel gas was siphoned from trucks on Castaic Road. The three others included a canopy from Higher Vision Church, an iPhone from a student’s backpack at Castaic Middle School and three bottles of nail polish from a company in the industrial center (employee arrested).

Of Note: Six of the nine crimes reported during this period occurred between, 11-26-2012 and 12-03-2012. The four vehicle burglary reports from Castaic RV and two gas siphoning incidents of petty theft fall is this category. Since the arrest of two burglary suspects on 11-30-2012 by proactive patrol deputies, there has not been one reported vehicle burglary or similar petty theft. Santa Clarita Detectives are continuing their investigation looking for possible links and connections to crime in the area and these two men.

Please remember to close your garage doors and never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle. Minimize your risk and avoid being the victim of a crime of opportunity. If you see any suspicious activity, call the Sheriff’s station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Zone 2 (Castaic or Val Verde), please feel free to email or call me directly.
