Alexia Alilah Cina, 21, of Canyon Country, has entered a no contest plea for a DUI crash that killed a 37-year-old mother of six on Golden Valley Road in October 2017, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Deputy District Attorney Courtney Armendariz said Cina pleaded no contest to one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Sentencing is scheduled July 6 in Department J of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. The defendant faces 10 years in state prison.

On Oct. 6, 2017, Cina was driving southbound on Golden Valley Road at a high rate of speed when she hit the center median and crashed into Katie Snyder Evans’ vehicle on the northbound side of the road, the prosecutor said.

Cina was initially charged with one felony count each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury.

If convicted of those charges, Cina could have faced a maximum sentence of 18 years to life in state prison.

Case PA089771 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Valley Station.

    Ten years? That’s it? ????????

  3. Wish those babies could see their Mom in 10 years! Oh wait they will NOT! 10 year is a joke!!!! ?

    Why not death penalty?

  5. Aubrey Hinde says:

No contest my arse!! She deserves the worst. ?

  6. travic levy says:

She might do 7 years at most. Such B.S.

  7. Lisa Burke says:

I’m so disappointed in the judicial system!!! Killing someone while driving under the influence should be an automatic 2nd degree murder charge!!!! Enough is enough!!! EVERYONE knows the possible outcome if you get behind the wheel while intoxicated!!! Those poor kids will never see their mommy and she will get in time to have kids!!!! So wrong!!!! It’s murder no matter how you look at It!!!!!

  8. David Green says:

I hope prison breaks her. I hope she gets chewed up and spat out and then. I hope she gets hit by a drunk driver with Rich mommies and daddies who get their kid a good lawyer and only faces 10 years.

  9. Her sentence is not long enough!!! These poor kids and husband. Give her life with no parole, this family lost out big time because of her stupidity to decide to drink and drive.

  10. Lame, she should get 25 to life.

  11. Mike Weaver says:

Really that’s all that the dumb selfish bitch gets. She should root in hell or die. And I don’t care if her family sees this post. Maybe her parents should ha e taught her how to claim self responsibility.

  12. Jeanne says:

She made a tragic decision to drive drunk. Those babies won’t get to know their mom. She does deserve punishment.

That said I remember being her age and making stupid choices that could have ended pretty bad but didn’t thanks to an angel on my shoulder. She is young and able to learn from this tragedy. I hope after she serves her time she is able to contribute to her community in a positive way and that the sorrow that will forever be etched on her life serves a purpose.

You don’t throw away people who make bad choices as kids or young adults.

I hope the judge uses GRACE as well as using Justice when sentencing her.

  13. Someone needs to take her out!!!

  14. Who were the people responsible for offering a plea!?

    • The district attorney’s office. A lot of things can go wrong at trial (not to mention they are expensive). DAs will offer pleas to avoid any mishaps during trials, saving taxpayers money, and to guarantee a conviction. Look at the Casey Anthony case. The DA had a slam dunk case and braise of that he only included the one major charge. That charge involved the word intent. Interviewing the jury later, they believed she did kill her daughter try to hide it etc. they never felt the DA proved intent. If the DA had included the lesser charges, she would be in jail right now.

  15. John Chan says:

And she will end up doing 5 , since this was a non violent crime, thank the voters for prop 57

  16. Jeanne says:

5 years is a long time. My grandson was not born then.
Think back 5 years and remember what was going on in your life. We have gotten to the point where these numbers are abstract. 5 years, 10 years is a huge chunk out of a life especially in prison. She will NEVER be the same.

  17. Jeanne says:

And I am Repub. 5 years ago we were in the middle of the Obama reign with no end in sight! 5 years is a long time.
