College of the Canyons business accounting students will provide free tax preparation services to qualifying low- and moderate-income residents as part of the federal government’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through April 13.
The volunteer program is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and designed to help low to moderate income households.
COC is participating in the program to both assist local community members and provide business accounting students with hands-on working experience in their chosen field.
COC’s certified student volunteers will prepare and e-file federal and state income tax returns. Experienced tax practitioners and IRS agents will also be on site to assist with quality review.
Visitors are welcome by appointment or walk-in.
Tax prep will take place on COC’s Valencia Campus in Hasley Hall, Room 233, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia 91355.
