coccougarsSANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The fall sports season has come to an end at College of the Canyons, but with five teams having participated in the postseason — and four teams having won conference titles — COC coaches and student-athletes continue to garner post-season accolades.

In all, Cougar fall sports teams had a combined 50 student-athletes earn all-conference honors and four coaches who earned the conference’s coach of the year award.

Three COC student-athletes were named conference player of the year:

Stacey Atwater (Women’s Soccer)

Sophomore forward Stacey Atwater topped the conference with her 27 goals this season, making her the college’s single season and career leader in goals scored. She had nine goals as a freshman in 2012. Atwater is the fourth player in program history to win the conference’s player of the year honor and the first since 2011, when Jessica Guerrero earned the same award.

Antonio Guy (Football)

COC sophomore defensive tackle Antonio Guy led the team with four forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries, while also posting 44 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He becomes the third COC football player to be named the conference’s defensive player of the year, joining Isaac Sopoaga (2000) and Marquis Jackson (2008),

Serena LeDuff (Volleyball)

Freshman outside hitter Serena LeDuff earned co-player of the year honors with Bakersfield’s Editza Urias. The West Ranch High School alumni lead the conference in kills (341), was second in kills per set (3.88), third in digs (370) and second in points (400.5).
