[KHTS] – A county Coroner’s Office spokesman ID’ed Monday the victim of a Canyon Country stabbing that is being investigated as a gang-related incident.
Jose Eduardo Ocampo, 25, was killed in the parking lot of a condominium complex in the 18100 block of Sundowner Way. He died from multiple stab wounds to the chest, according to Lt. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The time of death was approximately 10:55 p.m. Friday, Winter said.
Los Angeles County Homicide Bureau detectives have not released any information about a possible suspect or suspects involved in the stabbing.
Upon their arrival, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies discovered the victim lying on the ground, in the open, with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s COBRA Unit is assisting the Homicide Bureau, according to officials. The COBRA Unit, or Career Offenders — Robbery, Burglary Assault, specializes in investigations into gang-related activity and criminal.
A large fight involving bats and metal pipes at Langside and Soledad Canyon Road, about one mile away, was reported to Sheriff’s Station officials around 9:30 p.m.
Homicide detectives could not be reached for comment to determine if the two incidents were related.
A resident, who asked not to be identified because of rumors that at least one of the assailants lived in the multi-unit complex, said they heard the sound of a car peeling out, which set off car alarms nearby, around the time of the murder.
Although multiple residents of the condo said crime is not uncommon to the area, residents said they were surprised by the murder.
“For this community, this is just not stuff that happens,” said one resident who did not wish to be named, due to similar concern. “It’s mostly families, but there are pockets of gang (members).”
Ocampo was a suspected gang member, and the assailants are also believed to be gang members.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gangs don’t belong anywhere. If the sheriff’s department knows where they are, round them up and send them to prison. Better police patrol is needed in this area.

How sad
It so sad to see such a nice community go to crap because of a few bad apples. I must say i do not feel safe here anymore. I fear for my kids and will be moving very soon. Just take a look around this place is turning into a ghetto community and something needs to be done about immediately.
So sad. Stabbing a person multiple times over a name or a territory is useless. Eventually they all end up in jail or dead. Those that don’t usually reform, get jobs and raise children, realizing the error of their youth. At least that’s what I’ve witnessed in my 44 years. A lot of paraplegic gang members too. So sad. Lost youth.

I grew up there from the time I was 11 till 24 you don’t have to be from a gang to have this happen to someone. We live in a cruel world these days… living in the famous ABC’S ppl used to fight and hurt each other cause that’s the cool thing now and days…. what’s sad is that someone lost there life due to poor choices not cause there from a gang…
Hope they catch the low life who decided he needed to kill to prove a point. But I heard yesterday that they found a witness who was driving by and got a make and model of the murderer’s Truck and that the person told them a lot of new info. Let’s hope it is enough to put these people behind bars. If the sheriffs and the news gave this some media attention i think we would catch these guys a lot faster.
