The County of Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs on Tuesday entered into a memorandum of understanding with the United States Department of Labor and a partnership agreement with the State of California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement to collaborate on an extensive, multi-agency partnership to assist workers experiencing wage violations at their workplace.
DCBA enforces minimum wage ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, This new Federal, State, and local collaboration will ensure a more efficient and effective wage enforcement program across all regions and jurisdictions in California. It enables DCBA to better provide high-quality service to residents in Los Angeles County and improve customer service to those in need of wage enforcement assistance.
The agencies will work together in investigations into alleged wage violations, training opportunities, and public outreach efforts.
“This collaboration will help our Wage Enforcement team make sure workers in Los Angeles County are paid a correct and fair wage,” said Brian J. Stiger, Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs. “By combining the efforts of County, State, and Federal governments, we can provide L.A. County residents the top-notch customer service they deserve.”
The County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors approved the collaboration during Tuesday’s Board meeting. Chair Hilda L. Solis joined representatives from DOL, DLSE, and DCBA in a signing ceremony to make official the noteworthy agreement between government agencies.
