Here is the Crime Information and Public Safety Report for Castaic / Val Verde (Zone 2) for the week of August 13 – 19:

8/16/18
Domestic Assault- 32000 block of Green Hill Drive.
A verbal argument turned physical during a child visit. One party reported being attacked by the other who was wielding a pair of scissors. The child in common was present for the altercation.

8/16/18
Petty Theft- 28000 block of Greenwood Place.
The victim reported a pair of “Gucci” sunglasses stolen from his unlocked car while parked in their driveway. Security camera footage shows a male suspect, dropped off in a dark sedan, enter the vehicle through the passenger door. The crime occurred in the early morning hours.

8/18/18
Sexual assault- 27000 block of Violin Canyon.
After a night of drinking together, the victim fell asleep on the couch while the suspect watched TV. The victim woke up to the suspect performing a sexual act on her. She immediately got up and locked herself in another room until the suspect left.

Remember, in any community, the citizens are the first set of eyes and ears for 1st responders. It is the community who knows what “does” and “doesn’t” look right. It is you, the local citizens, who can tell who “does” and “doesn’t” belong in the area. If you see any suspicious activity, something that doesn’t look “right”, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Please be aware that many of the thefts we have seen in the past have been “Crimes of Opportunity”. Never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, close and lock your doors. Minimize your risk of becoming a victim.
