Northridge, CA (January 12, 2016) – The CSUN Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced a major gift of $400,000 that will fund a soccer team room project.
“We’ve worked hard to continually improve our athletic facilities over the past three years as part of our quest for comprehensive excellence,” said CSUN Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Brandon Martin. “We’re incredibly grateful for this generous donation, which will allow us to enhance our soccer facilities, give the deserving program new space of its own and help improve the student-athletes’ CSUN experience.”
CSUN’s soccer team room facility will include new lockers, instructional space, coaches’ offices and other amenities that will be used by CSUN soccer. The facility will also feature a dedicated entry point into Matador Soccer Field.
This past fall, CSUN’s Men’s Soccer Team advanced to the Big West Tournament and six Matadors earned all-conference honors, including senior Trevor Morley winning Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team NSCAA All-Far West Region. Four members of the CSUN Women’s Soccer Team earned All-Big West honors, and sophomore Cynthia Sanchez was named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region Team.
CSUN Athletics is currently in the planning phase of implementing this new project.
