The students and educators of Castaic Union School District outperformed schools across the state on the 2018 California School Dashboard. Castaic Elementary School, Northlake Hills Elementary, and Live Oak Elementary all showed great growth across the dashboards reported criteria.

The California School Dashboard (www.caschooldashboard.org) is an online tool that shows how local schools and districts are performing on the four criteria included in California’s school accountability system in 2018. The four criteria are Chronic Absenteeism, Suspension Rate, English Language Arts, and Mathematics. In 2018, the Dashboard began monitoring English Learner Progress.

“The improvement of each school illustrates our commitment to ensuring positive, equitable outcomes for all of our students”, said Superintendent Steven Doyle. “As a district, Castaic Union showed greater improvement than other districts statewide and our individual Elementary schools also performed better than the statewide average.”

The Dashboard rates schools’ performance on an indicator using five colors. Red is the lowest achievement level, followed by orange, yellow, green, and blue, the highest level. A school is considered to have a favorable mark if it receives green or blue on an indicator.

The elementary schools of Castaic Union School District showed continued improvement in their English Language Arts and Math Skills. The schools received yellow and higher in those criteria as well as in Chronic Absenteeism and Suspension Rates.
