A structure fire reported at Siam Rice in Canyon Country is under control and no other structures are threatened, according to inspector Quvondo Johnson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“The restaurant suffered significant damage, so it will not be opened for business for a cosiderable amount of time,” said John Tripp, Chief Deputy of Los Angeles Country Fire.
Fire officials are currently conducting an investigation on the cause of the blaze and mopping up the fire.
“We were dispatched out at 9:59 a.m. said Johnson. “When we got there we saw heavy smoke. It looked like it was coming from the attic.”
Smoke was reported from the drycleaners, but officials are still investigating the source and cause of the blaze.
“It’s been downgraded to a first alarm fire,” Johnson said. “We had units that were aggressively fighting this fire and that’s why we cancelled the second unit.”
Eastbound traffic on Soledad Canyon Road at Sierra Highway is being rerouted, and delays are expected.
The closures are expected to last at least another 30 to 45 minutes, according to Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
