Assemblyman Scott Wilk
Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, has seen his first bill clear the Assembly. The bill, Assembly Concurrent Resolution 5, pays tribute to President Ronald Reagan for his many contributions to California and the nation by designating his birthday, Feb. 6, as Ronald Reagan Day. Seventy-three Assembly members signed on as co-authors of the bill.
“President Reagan took office at a time when our nation was facing a crisis of confidence. He governed on the principles of individual liberty, limited government, and peace through strength,” said Wilk. “My legislation honors his legacy.”
President Reagan would have celebrated his 102nd birthday this year. He was the 33rd Governor of California from 1967-1975 and the only California governor to become a U.S. President when he ascended to the White House in 1981, becoming the nation’s 40th president.
Wilk’s district, AD38, is home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. The bill now moves to the Senate.
