Very cool until you want to prune it. Don’t plant anything under an oak tree!!! It needs NO WATER in the summer.
Very cool I would love to have one in my front yard how can I get ahold of this city is there a phone number that you can post thank you
Information is in link.
Be very very careful!! I have one in my backyard and they are an absolute nuisance. I had a massive branch growing into my backyard from the oaktree and had to fight for months and months to have the branch trimmed. The only reason they allowed us to trim the branch because it was a danger to my property. Oak Tree’s are protected by the preservation society so once they are planted you may not do anything to them. Plus they leave a cluster of s!*&t everywhere. Know what you’re getting yourselves into before you contact the city. Trust me and the rest above that have Oak Tree’s currently on our property. It is a major nightmare.
Read the article. These oaks are exempt.

“Santa Clarita is home to tens of thousands of native oaks, which clean our air, shade our neighborhoods and contribute to our community’s beautiful landscape,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “By planting these free, low-water trees, residents can add to the City’s urban forest and make a big environmental impact in their own back yards.”
The complimentary oak trees are exempt from the City’s Oak Tree Preservation and Protection Ordinance, which requires property owners to obtain permits for pruning, encroachments and the removal of oak trees located within the City. Homeowners who order and register the free “Oaktober” trees with the City will be exempt from the ordinance and any required removal permits.
Until they aren’t exempt, of course.
BTW, if something accidentally falls off your tree (like a major branch threatening your property because of a serious wind-gust in the fall) you are probably ok with turning it into BBQ smoke wood. Just sayin’
After it falls off, of course, that is.

If you need some help to be planted just look for Kathys-landscaping will be there to help you. Thanks
They sre cool unless you live surrounded by them and have a gazillion leaves falling 24/7/365. And can’t afford to pay for help clraning up the mess.
Francisco J. Lujan
U can’t cut them down too if needed… Thanks but no thanks
These trees are exempt from pruning and removal laws. It stated that in the article.

How the heck are they going to know what trees are exempt?
Don’t do it!! I just paid $3k to have mine TRIMMED. And the leaves and acorns are a mess. My neighbors oak tree had a section break off and fall on their house on the 4th of July. If I would have known the restrictions and problems before, I probably would not have bought my house. Mine is not exempt.
oh yeah- over in Canyon Country! I would plant my oak tree somewhere else that’s for sure! LOL
It would be like planting graffiti, then they can;t move it. Hehehe

Daisy Santiago let’s get an oak!

Dustin Bulmer Fabiola Preciado-Lizaola Sandy Lizaola Hernandez free tree!
