UPDATE: Friends and family of Wyatt Savaikie braved the rain in order to remember the him at a candlelight vigil Saturday evening at Santa Clarita Central Park, where the planned Concert in the Park was canceled to do inclement weather.
“I have people who have never met the family donating, and friends on vacation out of the country, seeing we need help, and taking time out if their vacation to donate,” said Tricia Guardado- Cascione, a longtime family friend of the Savaikies.

A fundraising website has been set up to cover funeral expenses for Wyatt Savaikie, the 14-year-old boy who was killed Thursday at a Saugus intersection.

The site was set up by family friend Kevin Bonn, who says in a YouTube video that Wyatt was struck and killed by a 78-year-old man who ran a red light.
“May the man that killed my son find comfort in his family,” Wyatt’s mother, Teresa Savaikie, said in a post on SCVNews.com.
She said a candlelight ceremony and a church service are being planned.
“He was beautiful,” she said of Wyatt. “We are so honored to have had the privilege of having him in our lives, as our Gentle Giant, our precious son.”
Wyatt is survived by his mother, Teresa; his father, Michael; and a 20-year-old sister and an 18-year-old brother.
He would have been a freshman at Valencia High School in the fall.

My heart broke yesterday morning when I saw his mom grieving at the memorial site. I can’t imagine the pain that she and her family are experiencing and I hope I never do. My deepest condolences to Wyatt’s family and friends.
Here’s hoping the man that was behind the wheel indeed finds comfort. We all feel an undirected rage at the thought of losing such a beautiful kid. It does good to remember not to direct that rage at the driver. Funnel it into helping the grieving family. Was happy to see Wyatt’s mom hope that the driver finds comfort.
