Brandon Gold delivered an eight-inning gem on the mound and the Lancaster JetHawks rallied for a 2-0 win in the 10th inning against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday night at The Diamond.
Wes Rogers drew a four-pitch walk with the bases against reliever Gerardo Reyes (2-2) to break the scoreless tie with two outs in the 10th inning. Scott Burcham scored on a wild pitch for the second run.
Logan Cozart (3-2) tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the win.
Gold gave the JetHawks (58-50, 20-18) a chance to win in extras with eight scoreless innings. It was the first time the right-hander tossed eight innings in a start in his career. He allowed four hits, struck out and four and walked one.
The Storm (50-58, 15-23) loaded the bases with three-straight singles to begin the second inning but Gold induced a 1-2-3 double play and struck out Chris Baker to get out of the inning. He allowed one hit and walked one batter the rest of the way.
The shutout win is the ninth for the JetHawks this season, the most in the Cal League.
The series continues on Tuesday night in Lake Elsinore. Ty Culbreth (3-1) gets the start for Lancaster. First pitch is 6 p.m.
