They won Sectional, they won Zone, and now they have won the PONY World Series.
The 9-and-Under team from Hart PONY Baseball defeated North Valley 7-2 to claim the title.
“The game was a nail-biter and we beat a very good team,” said Manager Jesse Hinojosa. “And I’m very happy for my boys, coaches and families.”
In the World Series tournament, Hart defeated Corpus Christi, TX (13-0), Sinaloa Mexico (13-2), and again defeated Sinaloa, Mexico (6-4) in the semi final. Sage Marvin hit a Grand Slam in the semi, the first ever for Mustang 9u World Series. The ball is being sent to the PONY Hall of Fame.
In the tournament, held in Walnut, CA, Greg Pierantoni won the batting title with a .692 average and Blake Schroeder hit a home run.
In the championship game, TJ Cataldi pitched 5.1 innings for the win. Ian Duarte came in for the save with one pitch that doubled off a runner at second base. Hart turned a double play to end the 1st inning and another to close the game.
“Our boys played outstanding baseball throughout the tournament season and glad that we are able to bring this inaugural PONY Mustang 9U World Series Title to Hart PONY Baseball and Softball and our hometown,” said team business manager Gavin Plasschaert.
