High School Sports Report for Friday, March 25, 2016:
High School Softball
Golden Valley (5-4) softball made a statement Thursday with a 6-0 win over Chaminade. The win moves the Grizzlies above .500 once again as they are a few weeks away from the start of the Foothill league season.
Canyon improved to 9-4 with a 2-0 shutout of Alemany Thursday afternoon.
Valencia (9-6) dropped a tough one to Agoura on the road in the 8th inning, 3-2.
The rest of the Foothill league will be in action over the weekend at various tournaments.
High School Baseball
In a matchup from last years CIF Southern Section Division I semi-final, Saugus picked up revenge on Hart with a 3-2 victory.
Valencia walloped Golden Valley 12-4 to stay undefeated in league. Trace Eldridge had three hits and five RBI to lead the Vikings, just a triple short of the cycle.
West Ranch improved their league record .500 with a 3-1 win over Canyon. Timmy Josten went the full monty for the win as the Wildcats stay in the early hut for the Foothill league.
High School Swim
Hart swept Valencia in the pool at Santa Clarita Aquatics center Thursday afternoon. The boys took home a 96.5-73.5 while the girls came away 87-83 win. The Vikings are the two time defending foothill league champions signifying a potential shift in control of the pool.
High School Boys Tennis
Valencia doubled up Saugus with a 12-6 win. Canyon knocked off Golden Valley 11-7, while West Ranch stomped Hart 17-1.
High School Boys Volleyball
Golden Valley squeezed out a three sets to two victory over Saugus while Canyon swept Hart out of the gym three sets to none.
