“Growth begins at the end of your comfort zone.” — Neale Donald Walsch
One of the things that makes Santa Clarita such a special place to live is the variety of opportunities available for residents to stay active, learn something new and connect with one another.
From arts and fitness to enrichment and recreation, our city continues to invest in programs that enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages. One of the most impactful ways we do this is through our Seasons magazine and the wide range of contract classes offered each quarter.
Seasons is the city’s quarterly recreation guide that showcases citywide events, information and an extensive lineup of recreational programs offered throughout Santa Clarita. It serves as a trusted resource for families, seniors, youth and individuals looking to stay engaged, healthy and connected. Each issue reflects the evolving interests of our residents and highlights programs designed to meet people where they are, no matter their age, ability or experience level.
A key component of Seasons is the city’s Contract Class Program, which expands recreational opportunities through partnerships with experienced instructors, local businesses and community organizations. These classes are offered across multiple city facilities and locations throughout Santa Clarita, bringing high-quality programming directly to our neighborhoods. By collaborating with contract instructors, the city is able to introduce new trends, respond to community interests and offer a diverse selection of programs that continue to grow each season.
Contract classes are organized into several categories, ensuring there is something for everyone. Arts classes include performing arts, visual arts and dance, offering creative outlets for both beginners and experienced participants. Health and fitness classes, such as yoga, MELT and POUND, support physical wellness and mental well-being, while sports and active programs, like tennis and basketball, encourage movement, teamwork and skill development. Enrichment classes, including chess and literacy programs, provide opportunities for learning and personal growth and special interest classes, such as horseback riding and dog training, allow residents to explore unique hobbies in a supportive environment.
Some of the most popular and exciting offerings span a wide range of pursuits. Sports and active programs include cricket, street hockey, Budoshin Ju Jitsu, archery, fencing, dodgeball, rock climbing at Top Out Climbing, fishing at Castaic Lake, horseback riding, drop-in fitness and water exercise. For those looking to explore creative and hands-on activities, classes such as rose gardening, jewelry making and candle making offer fun and engaging ways to learn something new. Together, these programs highlight the incredible variety of recreational opportunities available for residents of all ages right here in Santa Clarita.
Beyond the variety of classes offered, I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and discover new interests you may not have considered before. Whether it is picking up a paintbrush for the first time, joining a fitness class, learning a new sport or exploring a special interest, these programs create space for personal growth, confidence and connection. Each class is an opportunity to learn, meet neighbors and experience Santa Clarita in a new way.
I invite residents to explore the latest issue of Seasons and discover the many classes available this quarter. Whether you are looking to stay active, learn a new skill or simply try something different, there is a program designed with you in mind.
