LANCASTER – The JetHawks could not get their offense going as they fell to the Inland Empire 66ers 5-2 Tuesday night at The Hangar.

Lancaster has lost four of the first five games at The Hangar in their final homestand of the season.

Both starting pitchers were strong. Lancaster’s Garrett Schilling (pictured above, 8-8) breezed through the first two innings before running into some trouble. The 66ers (27-37, 53-80) scored two runs in the third and two more in the fifth. Six of their 10 hits came in those two frames.

Lancaster (32-32, 66-66) was without a run until the sixth inning. Luke Morgan led off the inning with an opposite-field home run to get the JetHawks on the board. Taylor Snyder added a sacrifice fly to make it a three-run game.

That was all the damage the JetHawks could do on offense. Kyle Tyler (3-0) worked into the seventh inning, allowing just two runs (one earned). Tyler needed just 54 pitches to get through the first five innings.

The JetHawks put men on base in each of the final three innings, but could not add any runs. The offense hit into three double plays, including one in each of the final two frames. Tyler Smith got the final seven outs for Inland Empire, earning his first save.

Lancaster has lost 10 of their last 13 games at home. The JetHawks have not had a losing record at The Hangar since 2011. They are 33-35 at home heading into their final two home games of the season.

The final home series of 2019 continues Wednesday night. Lefty Lucas Gilbreath (4-10) gets the ball against Inland Empire right-hander Cristopher Molina (2-4). First pitch at The Hangar is 6:35 pm.
