STOCKTON – The Lancaster JetHawks finished up their season-long nine-game road trip with a 7-2 loss to the Stockton Ports on Tuesday night at Banner Island Ballpark. They finished with a 5-4 record on the trip.
Jacob Bosiokovic and Max George hit back-to-back home runs to highlight the night for the JetHawks (7-6, 40-43), but the club was unable to come up with timely hitting throughout the rest of the game.
Stockton (9-4, 53-30) jumped on Antonio Santos (0-1) in the first inning of his Cal League debut. Santo walked the first batter he faced and gave up a single before Dairon Blanco cleared the bases with two-run triple. Blanco scored on a Jonah Heim groundout to complete the first-inning scoring.
The Ports added another run in the second inning. Brallan Perez reached on a two-out double and scored on Luis Barrera’s base hit.
Santos did not allow a run over his final four innings and finished with four runs allowed on eight hits over six innings with four strikeouts and a walk.
Lancaster had scoring opportunities in the third and fifth innings against Stockton starter Dustin Hurlbutt (3-3) but couldn’t score. Bosiokovic and George hit solo home runs to begin the sixth inning. The homer for George was his third of the series after recording his first career multi-homer game on Friday.
The Ports added three late runs against the JetHawks bullpen including two runs on a Sandber Pimentel home run.
Here’s the box score.
Lancaster ended up dropping three of five games in Stockton despite their overall winning record on the road trip.
The JetHawks return home to host the Modesto Nuts in the first of a five-game series on the Fourth of July. Matt Dennis (5-8) will start for Lancaster against left-hander Nick Wells (1-1). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
