LANCASTER – The Colorado Rockies have assigned the Lancaster JetHawks Opening Day roster for the 2019 season, featuring six returning players from the 2018 team and two of Baseball America’s Rockies top-30 prospects.
The pitching staff includes RHP Matt Dennis, RHP Tommy Doyle, RHP Will Gaddis, LHP Lucas Gilbreath, RHP Nate Harris, RHP Erick Julio, RHP Salvador Justo, RHP Braxton Lorenzini, RHP Hayden Roberts, RHP Antonio Santos, RHP Garrett Schilling, RHP Robert Tyler and LHP Hunter Williams.
Tyler, the organization’s 18th-ranked prospect according to Baseball America, returns after pitching in 12 games out of the bullpen to finish last season. Dennis tossed 153.0 innings over 28 starts for Lancaster in 2018. Justo is the only player on the roster to start each of the last two seasons with the JetHawks.
The club’s position players include C Austin Bernard, Joel Diaz, IF Sean Bouchard, IF Luis Castro, IF Todd Czinege, IF Carlos Herrera, IF Matt McLaughlin, IF Taylor Snyder, IF Ryan Vilade, OF Casey Golden, OF Matt Hearn and OF Ramon Marcelino.
Castro, who slashed .354/.431/.552 over 27 games for the JetHawks last year, returns along with Diaz and Herrera. Golden Baseball America.
The club will be led by first-year manager Scott Little. Supervisor of Development Frank Gonzales, hitting coach Tom Sutaris and pitching coach Dave Burba each return for their second seasons in Lancaster.
The JetHawks open the season with the Modesto Nuts on Thursday night at The Hangar. First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
